   When people talk about Dai Nationality，they will always refer to Xishuangbanna.However-on the Yuanjiang River Valley，mid Yunnan Plareau．there lives a branch of Dai Nationality—Huayao Dai But Huayao Dai people are quite different from the Dai people living in Xishuangbanna．Their languages are not mutually communicable，only a few words which are similar in spelling．Their costumes are differenttoo, The costumes of the Dai people living in Xishuangbanna are comparatively simpler，while Huayao Dai people's costumes are more diversified They often take silks and satins as the clothing materials and decorate them with handembroidered patterns. They also decorate their costumes with many silver balls,pieces and other hanging decorators，so looking at their costumes is really,aleastfor eyes It is said，tomake such a set of costume,about three kilograms of silver are needed and the costume will cost about one or even  thousand yuan.   Buddhism has integrated into the Dai culture in xishuangbanna area People’s ideas，behaviours and social custonrs are all influenced by the doctrines of Buddhism.
  However Huayao Dai people are not converted to Buddhism They believe in Aniinism They'pay tribute to their ancestors. They believe there are Local Deity，Village Deity．Paddy Deity Water Deity and Mountain Deity Therefore．they,also pay tribute to these deities From this．we can see the great religious difference between Huayao Dai and the Dai people living in xishuangbanna anna area
